AFTER DARK

The sun takes you away every day as she rises
Daybreak breaks us apart once again
Phones ring, letters and things, weighing me down
People and sound all around

The warm wind in my face brings a taste of the ocean
A far beach reaches its promise for me
Cool, wet, and your silhouette, it just isn't fair
Dreams, only dreams, you're not there

But at sunset the fears that beset me all disappear
When the night's gone, I know that you're on your way here

After Dark I can see you without closing my eyes
After Dark all the visions are true
After dark you are real, I don't have to theorise
After Dark all the dreaming is through
After Dark I can make love to you

Cat nap in the sun and make no excuses
Why face wasting your time on the day
Sleeping, thinking of this, dreaming of that
Maybe I should be a cat.

As the night nears I prick up my ears and I sniff the air
In the twilight I tense with delight cos you're there

After Dark I can see you without closing my eyes
After Dark all the visions are true
After dark you are real, I don't have to theorise
After Dark all the dreaming is through
After Dark I can make love to you
